Town Clerk and RFO - Closing date 29 October 2018 at 9.00am .

SCP 46 – 48 (currently £41,846 to £43,757)

This is an exciting opportunity to lead one of the larger Town Councils in Hampshire. With 13 Councillors covering 5 Committees and a staff team of 12, there is a balance between process driven Committee and policy work, and creative community and team leadership tasks.

Yateley has a population of approximately 22,000. It is situated in the north east corner of Hampshire and acquired the status of a town in January 1975. It covers an area of 2,722 acres stretching northwards from the A30 to the River Blackwater, which forms the county boundary with Berkshire. The town includes the areas of Darby Green, Frogmore and part of Blackwater.

The Council runs four community buildings, nine play areas, various open spaces and sports facilities, Heathlands cemetery, and Swan Lake nature reserve and allotments. The Council is a key partner in local events including Civic Day, Community Picnic and Older Persons’ Day. The Council is also a key partner on local groups including the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, Yelabus, Vision for Youth and the Yateley Older Person’s Network.

This is a real opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and innovative individual who will pragmatically seek to meet the aspirations of the Council.

You will need to be able to provide strong leadership and build a wide range of positive working relationships with councillors, staff and partner organisations across the public, private and voluntary sectors.

You may be an experienced and qualified Clerk, or you may have a successful track record elsewhere in Local Government or a legal or finance background in the commercial/private sector and are prepared to quickly qualify as a Town Clerk.

Like all Town Councils, Yateley will face its budgetary pressures and rising demand for services. It is therefore essential that you have the vision to provide advice and strategic direction which will lead the Town Council through exciting times of challenge and opportunity in the future.

This is a politically restricted post.

Interviews will be held on 13 November 2018. Successful applicants will be contacted by 05 November 2018. If you do not hear from us by this date your application has not been successful.
