The Yateley Town Council and the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group worked hard to produce the plan to give the local community direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood, and shape the development and growth of their local area.
It came about as a result of the Localism Act of 2011. The plan will cover the period up to 2032 and will be an annex of the Hart District Council Local Plan.
The plan was formulated around the following rules:
In support of the second item above, the Steering Group held a public consultation phase to allow interested parties to vote on their preferred priorities, and the results were published. You can see the result of the consultation phases on the Neighbourhood Plan Consultations page.
The Neighbourhood Plan provides an additional layer of control over development decisions. It will protect against inappropriate, speculative development and build a community consensus on our vision and expectations for own town.
Our Neighbourhood Plan will complement and reinforce Hart DC’s Local Plan and form an annex to it.
The Steering Group have identified four core pillars through the consultation periods on which the vision will be built.
Happy
Attractive
Sustainable
Inclusive
Our Neighbourhood Plan has been written by the people who know and love our community, setting out the vision and policies to shape and influence the future of our parish.
The Plan forms the third tier of the National Policy Planning Framework, whose purpose is to promote sustainable development – meeting the requirements of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
The Plan sits under Hart District Council’s Local Plan and form part of the Town Council’s planning policy, providing guidance on how the parish should evolve over the coming years.
