She coaches two Women’s XI teams, a softball team, and girls’ cricket from ages 5 to adult. She visits local schools and groups like Girl Guides annually, offering free cricket sessions to state schools with limited provisions. She ensures girls have proper kit and spends hours coordinating games during summer. Recently, she converted a male changing room into a female-friendly area. A strong advocate for women’s sport, she helped Yateley Cricket Club field two U16 teams in the league last year.

As the Financial Controller, she handles critical tasks like paying staff wages and supporting the admin team with financial information for grant applications. She expertly manages various funding pots for different youth services and assists with ad-hoc projects, from staff recruitment to tidying up. She is always present at Trustee meetings, ensuring smooth operations. Remarkably, she also volunteers for other charities in Yateley, making her a truly dedicated and busy individual. Vision 4 Youth is extremely fortunate to have her on the team

She engages with neurodiverse young people at the Blue Sky Youth Club every Wednesday, making them feel safe and welcome. Thank you for all your contributions to Vision 4 Youth and the community!

Maureen Devereux

This person has lived in Yateley for many years and was a midwife in Yateley when we had the cottage hospital. Her son Sean was killed working for the UN helping children in Somalia. Then her husband died. She did not give up and founded The Sean Devereux Children’s Fund to raise money for children in Liberia. She was privileged to carry the Liberian flag at the Tokyo Olympics. She brought some football mad children from Africa to play football on the park that shares Sean’s name. In October last year she received an MBE from Prince William at Windsor Castle.

Jason Cartright

This person, an army veteran, is a dedicated supporter of the Royal British Legion and their fellow veterans in the local community. He organises monthly veterans’ breakfasts at the Royal Oak, coordinate significant events like the 80th anniversary of D-Day, and support local youth groups during Remembrance Day marches.

As vice-chairman of the Hawley and Yateley Royal British Legion, he attends annual conferences and tirelessly promotes the Legion’s work. He also organises various community events for RBL, including the Poppy Appeal, May Fayre, and Curry Nights for veterans.

His contributions, including attending funerals as a standard bearer and raising funds for charities, make them a true asset to the community.

Brian Howe

As a direct result of this person’s hard work as External Competition Secretary for Yateley Camera Club, the club has had great success in inter-club competitions and has certainly put the town of Yateley on the map, as far as the Photography Community in the South of England is concerned. Yateley Camera Club became League Division 1 Champions in the Southern Counties  Photographic Federation (SCPF) Projected Digital Image League Championship, which includes nearly 70 member clubs across the region.

Shaun Molloy

This person is a volunteer driver with Yateley Neighbourcare. He regularly uses his own car to transport those in our community who need support to get to medical appointments, both locally and to more distant hospitals such as Slough, Windsor, and Southampton. He is always there to lend an arm to the frail, and always with a smile and a word of encouragement, or comfort, for residents who are struggling. He has continued to provide this service throughout 2024 with the same compassion and enthusiasm he has shown during the previous 48 years of volunteering with us! A really incredible achievement.

Joyce Fisher

I would like to nominate this person as she started Yateley Swimming Group for the disabled over 40 years ago. It is still going strong today. She has helped many people out with visible and non-visible disabilities to gain confidence in the water, including myself. She has done a fund-raising to keep the group going.

This person also helps out at St Peter’s and volunteers at Cafe 46. She is an amazing lady!

Caroline Sutton

I am proud to nominate this person for their exceptional contribution to providing crucial advice and support to vulnerable individuals in Yateley, Frogmore, and Darby Green. She offers guidance on financial difficulties, housing, employment rights, and benefits access, becoming a trusted source in the community. She has developed partnerships with local groups and supported 167 clients last year, resulting in nearly £150,000 in income gains and £12,000 in debts written off. Her dedication to empowering individuals and improving wellbeing truly sets her apart. We are incredibly fortunate to have her in our Citizens Advice Hart team and would love to see her recognised for her lasting impact on the community.

Alex Johnson

We would like to nominate this individual for their outstanding community spirit and willingness to help. After a large traveller encampment on Yateley Green, he volunteered to clean up the area, spending several hours picking up litter and clearing unpleasant mess. Following our tree planting event, he offered to regularly water the trees, which has been immensely helpful. During the Feel Good Festival, he assisted with his community group throughout the day and also volunteered to help the Town Council by marshalling traffic and clearing up equipment. He is always looking for ways to enhance and support Yateley.

His dedication to improving the community for the benefit of Yateley residents is truly commendable.

This what the attendees tell us is so lovely about the cafe.

Wendy Hart

This person has helped in a volunteering capacity since the beginning and for a short time too as a session leader. She is always there with a smile and encouraging attitude for our attendees, always ready to step in to help at the cafe and on other occasions when we have organised extra events. Her helpfulness and dedication in assisting the charity over the years is so much appreciated. It has meant that our attendees have felt supported on every occasion and our success is down to her and our other volunteers. Our attendees tell us they love coming to the cafe and they leave us each week with smiles on their faces because of the work attitude volunteers like her bring to the cafe.

Daisy Chain Volunteers

All the volunteers work hard to provide a weekly cafe for support to residents that have been diagnosed with dementia, and their carers/family. Those that attend the cafe really benefit from the support and company of the cafe, which would not be possible without the volunteers. The volunteers help and support at the weekly meetings, but also arrange different activities and guests to come in to entertain the group each week, and also the occasional trip out. The session leaders and Trustees do a lot of work behind the scenes to enable the cafe to keep running.
