On Saturday 6th June 2026, Yateley Town Council bestowed upon Dennis Thatcher, WWII veteran, the Honorary Freedom of the Town during his 100th birthday celebrations at The Royal Oak. The celebrations were organised by the Yateley & Hawley branch of the Royal British Legion where MP for Northeast Hampshire, Alex Brewer, attended along with Acting Mayor Cllr Mark Griffin.
