Hope in action: We are friends – St Peter’s churchyard and beyond
By Michael Duncalfe
Michael has loved the natural world for as long as he can remember. After two interesting careers, first as a veterinary surgeon, then as a mission pilot flying in Papua New Guinea, he now leads the St Peter’s response to the climate and biodiversity crises together with his wife, Nicki.
Although church land, St Peter’s churchyard is a community asset but with sometimes conflicting demands and interests that can be hard to reconcile. We’ll explore some of these differences, put them in a wider perspective of what is happening nationally, and then see what we might be able to do together, locally, as a group of Friends of St Peter’s Churchyard.
Hope in action: Transforming climate concerns into solutions
By Sharon Egan, MSc Psychology – Dissertation in EcoAnxiety.
Sharon has a always loved nature and wildlife and feels a connection to the natural world. This deep appreciation of nature can bring concern and anxiety about how much of it has been destroyed by human action. Sharon is active in connecting with other people who feel the same way and is heartened by the good work and restoration that is happening. Sharon will be giving a talk on concerns about the crisis and shines a light on people and organisations taking action in big and small ways. Come along and find out what you can do to alleviate anxiety with positive action.
