Government announces changes to Hampshire’s local councils – What it means for Yateley
Today the Government confirmed plans to reorganise local government across Hampshire.
From April 2028, the current two‑tier system (Hampshire County Council + district/borough councils) will be replaced by new unitary authorities.
👉 Hart District Council will join with Basingstoke & Deane and Rushmoor to form a new North Hampshire Unitary Authority, responsible for local services.
👉 A ‘shadow authority’ will be elected in 2027 to manage the transition.
✅ What this means for Yateley, Frogmore & Darby Green
Yateley Town Council is not part of this reorganisation.
We will continue to operate exactly as we do now.
We are committed to use the changes to strengthen our local voice and make sure Yateley’s priorities are clearly heard within the new council structure.
