The Town and Country Planning Association is launching a new suite of Community Planning Guides on 21 October from 7-8pm in a free webinar! These resources showcase to what community groups are doing to tackle the effects of climate change, including flood risk, overheating and retrofit. They aim to show what is possible and provide useful ideas, advice and further resources for communities looking to engage with the planning system.
By exploring a range of case studies from around the country, the TCPA aims to highlight how local communities across the UK are putting sustainable planning principles into practise and making real change happen on the ground. Whether its influencing flood risk assessments and stakeholders such as Lead Flood authorities, engaging in natural flood management techniques; delivering urban greening or shading devices in public spaces, or setting up a local retrofit advice service or community energy company, there are significant opportunities for communities to get involved in addressing the impacts of climate change in their areas.
This webinar will provide an overview of the TCPA’s research project, which showcases and champions the practical ways in which communities can work towards tackling the challenges posed by flooding, overheating, and community retrofit in their areas. You will hear from the TCPA about the project and from speakers working with communities to enable community action including Local Trust, the National Flood Forum and Shade the UK., showing what is possible and providing useful ideas, advice and further resources to community groups across England.
